Louie & Elaine
We founded Smiling Dumplings during the pandemic. Despite the challenges that the pandemic was throwing at the hospitality industry during this time, we chose to create a business, venturing into this territory together as siblings.
Raised under the influence from our mother (Jennifer Du, the founder of the Taste of Shanghai group) we quickly learnt that there is no shortcut to success. Our mum taught us that in order to grow, you have to find your own determination and effort. Unlike some, our lives were not formulated to follow in anyone’s footsteps. Instead, we believe that you must follow your heart and passion to live the life that makes you happy.
With lots of encouragement and support, we brought this brand to fruition. The combination of Elaine’s love and passion for food and Louie’s outgoing and fun personality has led us to this point.
